Samsung Galaxy Z Flip gets Android 12 update with One UI 4.0

Samsung has officially rolled out the latest Android update with One UI 4.0 to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The Galaxy S21 series were the devices that received the update, followed by the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20, along with the Samsung Galaxy S10 series. After smartphones, tablets are getting the Android 12 update, with the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ getting the update in European countries. According to SamMobile, the stable One UI 4.0 update based on Android 12 is now rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. The update is rolling out in Italy and Switzerland and will be available to more countries in the near future.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, you can check for the latest update by going to Settings > Software update and tapping Download and Install. Don't worry if you can't see the Android 12 update, it will be updated in phases of the update.

One UI 4.0 update brings features like custom software interface, Improved Dark Mode, material color themes you like, new AR emoji stickers, always on display, menu widget selector, etc It also features improvements in the camera app design, improved privacy, and permission access history. In addition, it also adds some accessibility features such as Extra Dim, which reduces the brightness of the screen more than usual.

The original Galaxy Z Flip started receiving the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update two weeks ago. However, the update is limited to a few European countries. Currently, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 12 update for the carrier-locked version of the Galaxy Z Flip in the US.

Android 12-based One UI 4.0 stable update for Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F707U) comes with firmware version F700USQS4FUL9. The update is currently available on Sprint's network in the US, but multiple carriers may release the update in the coming weeks. The new update comes with the December 2021 security patch to fix various security vulnerabilities.

If you're a Galaxy Z Flip user in the US, you can check for the Android 12 update by going to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and Install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The Galaxy Z Flip was launched in February 2020 with One UI 2. The smartphone received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update in early 2021 and the Android 12-based One UI 4 update this week. before. end of December 2021.

Unlike its bulky "brother" Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Flip falls into the "expensive but affordable" segment. Expectedly, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is also priced lower than some flagships on the market today (iPhone 12 Pro / Galaxy S21 Ultra).

The "clamshell" folding smartphones are still in the early stages of development but their original design is familiar to many people! Plus, it's also a phone that fits in a pocket but still functions like any other smartphone.

The iPhone 8 is still popular because it's pocketable. However, the product is still difficult to use with one hand. Meanwhile, the folded Galaxy Z Flip 3 will have a much larger external screen, allowing users to quickly reply to messages, view notifications or simply see the date and time. The screen of the previous Galaxy Z Flip 5G was quite small.

Furthermore, the 'clamshell' design solves another serious problem – less breakage, helping to protect the main (inner) screen. Screens are always the most expensive part, so protecting them is essential.

Last but not least, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be much lighter than a large foldable smartphone and will be lighter than many other phones with a 6.7-inch screen. That's because the product has a smaller battery and a plastic screen.
According to reviews, folding smartphones make users less "distracted than normal smartphones" and more focused. For students, this will be a great tool when it comes to taking notes or snapping a photo with important information. Along with that, they will not draw them into the time of surfing Youtube or other social networks because they have to open - fold many times.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 looks much better than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Galaxy Z Flip has a slimmer overall design compared to its larger brother. They are just enough to provide a premium experience with more exotic color options.
The Galaxy Z Flip series will have a crease in the middle of the screen.

Besides the above advantages, Galaxy Z Flip 3 will still have disadvantages: there is a crease when opening the main screen; no "quality" camera cluster (expected to copy the camera layout from the Galaxy S21); slow charging and have short battery life; Not very water resistant.

Of course, users will have to wait until Samsung launches Galaxy Z Flip 3 and official reviews. But if the upgrades on this "super product" meet the public's expectations, this will be a technology product worth owning this year, especially the compact - convenient element is more popular!

After the Galaxy Fold was delayed for sale last year due to screen errors and tests on the Galaxy Z Flip or Motorola Razr, it can be confirmed that durability is still a weakness that needs to be overcome as quickly as possible of a folding screen smartphone, if want to have a foothold in the market instead of just staying in the form of a trend.

Analysts from Creative Strategies said that durability is not the ultimate goal of foldable smartphones, but if they are too fragile, users will be hesitant to choose to buy. Folding screen smartphones currently do not have many practical applications other than fashion advantages compared to the boring bar form. Manufacturers may be testing to see what users really need in devices with folding screens.

According to Milanesi, it will be interesting to see folding or dual-screen smartphones like Surface Duo launch in the future. In fact, if a world's largest mobile company like Samsung doesn't recklessly experiment with the Galaxy Fold or Flip, or Motorola launches the Razr, the smartphone race will be extremely boring.

"Many people think that two screens are a stepping stone for a folding screen, and a folding screen is a stepping stone to AR and VR," Milanesi said.

In addition to folding screen smartphones, Samsung also hopes that 5G network technology will push users to upgrade smartphones. The Korean company is confident that 20% of smartphones sold in 2020 will support 5G, up sharply from 1% last year.

Milanesi believes that the impact of 5G on the market will be very small compared to users' expectations of a high-end smartphone. However, if Apple launches an iPhone with 5G this year, things could change.
